SEN Membership Hits 150!!Pictured Above - Audrey Murray, Chair (SEN Board) welcomes Mid Ulster Community Arts Trust as 150th Member to the SENThe Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster (MLA) welcomed the Mid Ulster Community Arts Trust (MUCAT) and presented them with a celebratory certificate congratulating them as the 150th member of the Social Economy Network (SEN), the representative body of the sector. The award took place in Irvinestown, Co Fermanagh on 25 March 2010.

There are two types of SEN membership: Full Membership is open to social economy organizations including community businesses, community interest companies (CICs), co-operatives, credit unions, Development Trusts, Housing Associations, social enterprises and social firms. Membership Benefits and ServicesSignposting and Support: SEN has developed strong working relationships with different support agencies across the UK and Ireland. Our members gain access to this network of support and we assist them in finding the right advice to help them tackle the issues facing their social enterprise. Trade Directory:Registration on the Trade Directory is free to Members of the Network and £20 for Non-Members. This directory is the only one in Northern Ireland for the Social Economy Sector that has been developed in consultation with the Central Procurement Directorate to increase trading opportunities for the Sector.To register your organisation and its goods and services in the directory, you first need to login to the members' section of this website. Then return to the Trade Directory page to find a link to the online registration form, or use the link in the members' menu to the right. Network News: Network News is the Newsletter for the Social Economy in Northern Ireland. There are four editions per year. Network News is available free of charge to Members of the Network. It is a portal of information for anyone interested in knowing more about the sector and forming partnerships with sector organisations. The exclusive ‘Members Only’ section of the website gives members beneficial services and resources to help their enterprise. The SEN website offers members the opportunity to promote their organization online and maximize traffic to their own website - click here for details - SEN Website Events:SEN’s online events calendar features different events across the province - Members can promote their events online and target sector organizations. SEN Members have access to attend a range of events organised by the SEN free of charge or at a reduced rate. SEN - E-Zine/E-Newsletter: SEN Members receive free subscription to the SEN monthly e-zine/e-newsletter and have the opportunity to include their news and events with a direct link to the SEN website. New Sector Magazine - free subscription: Members receive New Sector magazine six times a year. The magazine contains news, analysis, case studies and informed opinion about democratic enterprise and community control. Lobbying:As the representative body of the social economy sector in Northern Ireland, SEN proactively advocates the interests of its members to the Assembly and government departments. Members can engage in the policy developments which affect their sector and their organization by channelling their concerns through consultation opportunities. Networking: SEN promotes sector co-operation and member-to-member referrals which can develop a strong business network and important partnerships. Networking is crucial to developing your enterprising activities, make new contacts, and share experiences and ideas with other SEEs. SEN’s successful networking events, hosted by member organizations, are an excellent way to boost your business. Training: SEN runs a series of seminars and workshops on prevalent issues in response to the identified need from the membership. SEN’s dynamic partnership with enterprise agencies and business support networks means that members are regularly informed of what training is available in their area. Conference facilities: Members can benefit from a discounted rate on the SEN conference facilities which includes hire of projector, laptop, flipcharts and free car parking. We also promote conference facilities offered by our members. Social Firms UK: The Network hosted a successful between the Social Economy Network (SEN) and Social Firms UK on 18 February 2010 to which all social firms in Northern Ireland were given the opportunity to attend. One of the outcomes agreed at the meeting is that any social firms in Northern Ireland who are a member of the SEN will receive free membership of Social Firms UK as well as all attendant benefits. Membership fees are calculated on the basis of the annual turnover generated by an organisation. Membership fees are charged on an annual basis. The fee for Associate Membership is £300 per annum. Membership Application Form
